From trailhead on Chenango St. use sidewalk on west side of the street. Follow blue blazes and North Country Trail shields. Many fine shops, restaurants, and historic homes are in the village. Visit Lorenzo State Historic Site. Look for stone work of historic structures along Chittenango Creek as you follow Cazenovia’s Gorge Trail north on old rail bed. The trail exits to the right across private property to reach Roberts Rd. but you can continue to Carey Hill Rd., another 1.2 miles. Cross Bingley Rd. and take Emhoff Rd. approx. 300 ft. where the trail is on the left alongside the road. From the end of the trail, at Carey Hill Rd., a short road walk west on Carey Hill Rd. will take you to Chittenango Falls State Park. Future plans are for a trail connection to the park and to the Old Erie Canal Towpath Trail at Canastota. Total distance: 4.8 miles
